Nauvoo PD, IL

Chief Don Faulkner wanted to equip his department with projectile stun weapons. He considered the Stinger S-200 and the Taser X26® products. Feature for feature, including price, he found the Stinger S-200 to be more compelling. He then had six individuals including himself stunned by each weapon (video can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo44mTP-KfQ).

"My goal is to find a product that will not only benefit my department but would benefit all law enforcement agencies. I compared the two products on an even playing field and concluded the Stinger is the superior product. Furthermore, I've seen the Taser funded study that includes Taser board of advisor members and instructors that supposedly compares the Taser to the Stinger. In my opinion, and speaking not only as an individual but as a chief of police, the CRT study is completely inaccurate. I believe that either CRT had an agenda, or they must not have had the most current model Stinger that is on the market."

Chief Faulkner continued, "I can guarantee you that the S-200 has plenty of takedown power. The beauty of the S-200 is the engineering. The gun allows for tremendous stopping power yet was less painful than the Taser weapon. The Taser caused a great deal of pain. I now believe that it is not necessary that a stun product has to inflict this much pain to immobilize them. Obviously, with more pain, safety concerns crossed my mind."

Dewitt County Sheriffs Department, IL

Captain A.J. Monaghan stated, “After extensive research regarding the Stinger and its competitor we like the Stinger better. After doing a side by side testing of the Stinger and its competitor and after seeing the difference in the dart spread of the two devices, we quickly concluded that Stinger was the best choice. Further, the S-200’s overall features coupled with a price that will save our taxpayers money, confirmed our thought process that the S-200 is the right choice for our department.”

Norfolk, Virginia

Sheriff and High Constable Robert McCabe stated, “We looked at the available electronic immobilization products and easily concluded that Stinger Systems offers the best array of products, at a good value, and with great technologies.  Having used other stun guns, the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office felt that Stinger S-200 has features that others simply didn’t offer and that really made the decision making process quite easy.  Although Stinger is new to the stun gun market, they have a great track record and I believe that their superior offering will make them extremely competitive in the marketplace.”

Prairie du Chien, WI

Chief Michael King of Prairie du Chien, who also assisted authorship of Defensive and Arrest Tactics Guide, a training guide for Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers, stated, "As a member of the state's ECD Committee I believe I have had the opportunity to extensively research the ECD marketplace. What I found most compelling about the Stinger S-200 ECD is its waveform technology. If you need say only 5,000 Scoville units in pepper spray to be effective, why would you want to purchase a pepper spray with 50,000 Scoville units? The same logic goes with ECD's. Why would I want to purchase a device that has been measured to have 75% more peak current than the Stinger product since each product is effective at immobilizing suspects?"

Willard, MO

Chief Tom McClain stated, "We did a lot of homework looking at the two primary vendors of EID's. We even used another model prior to this purchase. We concluded that the S-200 not only presented the best value to the taxpayers of Willard but clearly had the features necessary to best outfit our officers. Features like a cartridge eject system which allow our officers to quickly reload in dangerous situations is among the features we found very compelling. Further, having less current per pulse than competitor simply made the choice that much easier."

Henry, IL

Chief James Young stated, “After careful evaluations of the Stinger and the Taser, I determined that choosing the Stinger is an obvious and easy choice. I believe the Stinger S-200 offers officers an excellent alternative to other force options. I particularly liked what I believe is Stingers’ superior dart spread, internal cartridge housing, and the one-handed quick eject button. For nearly half the price of the competition, I am getting a weapon that achieves a great level of immobilization while putting less current into the chest. As a Police Chief, I would encourage every law enforcement administrator to closely evaluate the Stinger and read through what appears a subversive effort to discredit Stinger by a focused bashing machine that has littered the Internet. Information such as partially released NIJ studies that were performed on S-200 models not even being sold now.”Chief Young continued, “Further, I am particularly happy to see Stinger’s stance on officer safety knowing that Stinger does not sell their weapons designed for law enforcement purposes to the civilian market. I know several small and large agencies looking at making purchases of the Stinger and I believe the Stinger is the future of stun weapons.”

Woodhull, IL

Chief Darren Jaros commented, “I had an opportunity to evaluate a Stinger S-200 from a neighboring agency whom is carrying them. After experiencing the effects of the Stinger S-200 and closely evaluating the Taser brand X-26, I easily came to the conclusion that not only was the Stinger far superior to the Taser, I like the fact that Stinger exclusively sells to the law enforcement community at a more affordable cost. I researched all the information out on the Internet and concluded that there is no current information or studies that reflect negatively on the new Stinger S-200 that I am purchasing.

After I took a hit with the Stinger, there is no way I believe any of the conclusions that were reached by some so called independent tests and found those tests to be an unfair and bias study that has nothing to do with the new Stinger S-200’s.

Additionally, I think it is important to note that because our agency is small, we do not have the funds necessary to simply purchase trendy products without really knowing what we are getting. We needed to truly research and decide what the best value is for our department. I know quite a few agencies around who are excited about the next generation EID technology in the Stingers.”
